Krotoum Konaté started her career in Guinea as an agronomist for an international cooperation program between the NGO Guinée 44 (based in Loire-Atlantique) and farmers from the Kindia region.
After an extensive experience in Africa, she was appointed by the French government in 2004 as director of the Technical Institute for Organic Agriculture (ITAB). Her mission was to define and experiment new conceptual and technical tools for an innovative and sustainable agriculture in order to develop French organic agriculture. In 2013, Krotoum Konaté was bestowed by the French Minister of Agriculture, Chevalier (Knight) dans L’Ordre du Mérite Agricole (The Order of Agricultural Merit) for her extraordinary contribution to the nation.
In 2016, she was appointed as the first Director of the brand new Institut de l’Alimentation BIO.
